About Cre8asiteThis forum is the third incarnation of what was once known as the "Cre8pc Web Promotion Club". It was a small community of people interested in building online businesses that were user centered and search engine friendly. Beginning StagesIn September 1998, Kim Krause Berg, owner of Cre8pc.com, launched the "Cre8pc Web Promotion Club" hosted by Yahoo! Clubs (now known as Yahoo! Groups). Shortly afterwards Carol Daly, of CreativeThought.com, launched the "Home and Small Business Club". Carol and Kim joined each other's club, met there and became good friends. Carol's club focused on business plans, startups, and business matters, while Kim's handled web design and search engine optimization. The two clubs became friendly and grew to a combined total of 5000 members. One member of both clubs, Bill Slawski, assisted in moderating both of them. When Yahoo! moved their Clubs to Yahoo! Groups, many changes occurred including the loss of most members who preferred the conveniences of Clubs. Carol started over with a new small business group. Kim moved the "Cre8pc Web Promotion Club" to Yahoo! Groups December 28, 2001 and changed the name to the Cre8asite Group. Bill remained with Kim, as did many of the original Cre8pc Club members. Dramatic GrowthInterest and membership from several well-known figures in the search engine optimization industry inspired the group to move into a full-fledged forum. Assisted by Phil Craven, (WebWorkshop.net) and long-time Cre8pc club members Adrian Lee (Camaban.co.uk ), Bill (aka Bragadocchio) Slawski (SEO by the Sea) and Mick Hansen (MickHansen.com), the new Cre8asiteForums were launched August 30, 2002. Industry experts Ammon Johns (aka Black Knight) of (Webmarketingplus.co.uk) and Jill Whalen of (HighRankings.com) joined as Moderators. (Jill has since started her own forums.) Our popularity required adding new moderators from around the world with varying backgrounds and expertise, and adding more forum topics based on Cre8asite community feedback. Our GoalsIt's not enough to build a Web site. It must be tested. It should earn its keep. It must be found by people. We know you want to learn more about conversions, business issues, increasing sales and ranking higher than your competition. Since there are so many ways to do all of this, with some methods being more effective, or more "ethical", easier or harder to do than others, we bring it all to the table here. Cre8asiteForums strives to let everyone ask questions, share knowledge, inquire on techniques and test designs in our Forums. We like to comment on the ridiculous in our After Hours section and welcome debates that trip your trigger (but we don't tolerate intolerance of other views.) We eat SEO gossip for breakfast, are obsessed with usability design issues, are passionate about web site business and are always learning new web design techniques. Where We Are TodayFrom our beginnings, until August 20, 2005, these forums were hosted by a long-time friend of Kim's. Alan Runfeldt, Co-Founding Principal of JustASKthem.com, donated a server at no charge. Having outgrown that one, we accepted the donation of yet another server provided by Moderator Ron Carnell. We have been extremely fortunate to attract many of the top minds on the Internet, including a talented pool of moderators. Our moderators, who hail from varying disciplines, work collaboratively both behind the scenes and the publicly viewable Forums, generously volunteering their time, energy and expertise to all who seek help. Our Forum culture has evolved into a unique one. Many have described it as friendly and welcoming -- a place where they feel "at home." We support a wide variety of Internet related disciplines including education, networking, sharing, communication and support. We also welcome differing solutions to problems and cross-pollination of ideas. You are warmly welcomed to the Cre8asiteForums community. Visit the Cre8asiteForums |
